Oceanside Real Estate
Oceanside, city in San Diego County, southwestern California,
on the Pacific Ocean. The city's economy is based on the water
sports and apparel industries, tourism, health care, and
services, as well as on nearby Camp Pendleton, a large
United States Marine Corps base. Attractions in the community
include a long public beach, a marina, and a recreational pier.
A community college is located in the city, and Mission
San Luis Rey (1798, restored) is close by.
The population of Oceanside was estimated by the Census Bureau
to be 167,082 residents as of July 1, 2003. That was an increase
of one percent from a year earlier and an increase of 3.8 percent
from the 2000 Census. That is a rate of increase that,
if continued, would double the population in 57 years.
